Preston got his cast off!

Taylor took Preston on Monday to get his cast off. He was nervous. The doctor said his arm had healed. They used this special saw to get it off. The doctor said he will be protective of his arm for a few days. Last night Preston told Taylor that he wanted to get his cast put back on. I thought it was funny.

Last time we saw him with his cast on.

I think I would be nervous too! Yikes, that looks scary.

Orange Rolls

Let rise for an hour.

Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes and let cool. Drizzle with icing.

Orange Rolls

1 recipe dinner rolls (below)
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
2 T. freshly squeezed orange juice
Grated orange rind from two large oranges

Orange Glaze:
Mix together 1 ½ cups powdered sugar, 3 T. freshly squeezed orange juice and ½ tsp. grated orange rind.

Follow directions below for dinner rolls. Combine butter, sugar, orange juice and orange rind in a small bowl and mix well.
When dough is ready to shape into rolls, punch down and divide in thirds. Roll each portion into large rectangle about 9x13 inches, ¼ inch thick. Spread each rectangle with one-third of the butter/orange/sugar mixture. Starting with the long side, roll up jelly roll style. Seal edges well, then cut with dental floss into 1-inch slices.
Place on a greased baking sheet (I fit 15 on a sheet - three rows of five). Let rise away from draft until dough doubles. (Today that took about 1 hour.) Bake at 350° for about 20 minutes. (Mine were done at about 16 minutes, so check early.) Remove rolls from pans and cool on wire rack. When rolls are cool, drizzle with orange glaze.

Rolls

2 1/2 cups warm water

1/2 cup oil

3/4 cups sugar

3 1/2 tbs. yeast

mix all together, let rise for 15 minutes.

Add 2 room temperature eggs (whisked). In bowl combine 6 1/2 cups flour, 1 tbs. salt and 1/2 cup flour more if you need it. I use my dough hook on my kitchen-aid mixer. Don't over mix. Let dough sit for 15 minutes before rolling out. Separate into 2 balls. Roll out into 1/2 inch rectangle and follow instructions for orange rolls.

I got this recipe from sistercafe.blogspot.com. My sister made them and everyone absolutely loved them. I gave these out for visiting teaching and to friends for Christmas. They were so yummy. I used a different roll recipe than they did. They used Lion house rolls.

Broken Arm!

Preston, Callie and me were sick with the flu and so we stayed home from church on Sunday. While Taylor was at church I guess they started feeling better and decided to spin each other on our office chair. Preston decided to jump right when Callie spun the chair. He landed on arm. When I saw his face I could tell something wasn't quite right. I took him onto the couch and he screamed when I touched his arm. Taylor still hadn't gotten home from church and so I called a friend who lives close to the church. He found Taylor and he rushed home and took Preston to the Urgent Care. They took x-rays but said that it wasn't broken. Taylor went over to a Radiologist who is in our Ward and he said it was. The cast was put on Monday afternoon. It was an elbow fracture.

Preston got to pick the color of his cast. I think he liked that. He was so brave when they put it on. He only has to have the cast on for 3 weeks. December 20th he will get it off. Which that is nice because we are flying on Christmas day.

At the Urgent Care they wrapped his arm and put it in a sling.

He was very quiet for the rest of the day. But he is now back to himself like nothing ever happened.

Mimi, Papa, and Chase go home!

Callie is always so sensitive. She said she missed them as soon as we walked in the door. We had a great time with them. Thanks for coming.

They weren't looking forward to the 21 hour drive home. Yuck!

It is always cold, rainy or snowing when Taylor's parents come to visit. This time it rained and was cold. It didn't rain at Disneyland until right before we left.

Callie's lost her 1st tooth

Callie lost her first tooth on Monday night when the Missionaries came to dinner. She was eating dinner and told us her tooth was loose and Taylor told her to twist it and her tooth came out. I thought she was very brave. She was so excited for the tooth fairy to come but the tooth fairy forgot! Whoops! She came the next night and made up for it.
